BBC TV Studio

The BBC Roath Lock television production facility is located in the PorthTeigr area of Cardiff Bay, UK. It houses the productions of Dr Who, Casualty and Pobol y Cwm, and was completed in February 2011. Filming started in the autumn of the same year. Marioff was chosen to provide protection for the filming area following the building’s completion. As with most retrofits, space is at a premium. HI-FOG® was an ideal choice due to its verified performance together with low water requirements and compact water tank.

HI-FOG® protects the TV studios with an externally housed MSPU9+1 pump unit adjacent to the main set and one insulated 27m3  water tank. 344 sprinklers and nearly 2,500 m of tubing were installed. The pump unit is also integrated with the building’s fire detection systems. Installation was carefully planned to ensure filming continuity through the project.
